Bangladesh will import additional 60 MW power from Palatana Thermal Power Project. Palatana had already been supplying 100 MW power to Bangladesh for quite some time. For that purpose a special power transmission line had been constructed from Suryamani Nagar to Bangladesh.
Sources in the TSECL said, the decision in regards to power supply was taken at a meeting in Dhaka on March 16.
Senior Indian and Bangladesh officials were present in the meeting. Although the date or time of power supply has not been decided, it is expected that it would start formally during the proposed visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to New Delhi.
Earlier during her visit to Tripura some years ago, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had expressed her willingness to invest in power projects in Tripura.
