Tripura Jute Mill employees to go for indefinite strike to show protest against non-payment of pending wages

However, the employees have decided to go for work halt from Saturday. The employees also indicated to move to the court and file a case against Tripura Govt for offending the Court's verdict, if it delays any more to pay their salaries.

The Supreme Court previous year in the month of October has directed the Tripura government to pay all dues to officers and employees of Tripura Jute Mill, on a par with other employees, with effect from April 1, 1996, with six per cent interest.

Officers and employees of Tripura Jute Mill had been deprived of the higher pay scale and allowances and were kept out of its purview.

The employees of the jute mill had moved the Agartala bench of Gauhati High Court against the deprivation in 1997 and the then Justice N.G. Das had ordered the state government to give pay scale and allowances to officers and employees of the jute mill on a par with the state government.
