During speech Social Welfare and Social Education minister Bijita Nath said, “Each and every community should pay respect to their own mother language and should also respect other’s mother languages. Languages of different communities are being abolished all over the world and the languages are being attacked in different ways.

In contrary the minister said, “the State Government is continuing the effort to protect the languages of different communities. Adding that everyone should nurture their language with care she said, we should perform our responsibility as successor of the people who sacrificed their life for mother tongue.

Among others Sabhadhipati of Uttar Tripura Zila Parishad Pratima Das, Chairperson of Dharmanagar Municipal Council Shakti Bhattacharjee, eminent poet of Kolikata Ranjit Das, poet from Shilchar Dr. Subir Kar, writer from Karimganj Nishith Das, poet Hrishikesh Nath and Anukul Sinha delivered speech in the meeting. Joint Director of ICA T.K. Choudhury delivered the welcome address. Besides, poet Anukul Sinha was felicitated with Bhasha Samman today.

About 45 poets recited their own poem in the Kabi Sammelan. Besides, artists of different languages performed cultural programme under different cultural groups. On the occasion ICA department handed over musical instruments to the members of Kulubari Lokaranjan Sakha and Brajendra Nagar Lokaranjan Sakha.

Meanwhile, poets of different languages including Bengali, Manipuri, Chakma, Mog and Hindi recited their poems at Multi lingual Kabi Sammelan organized at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala today. ICA department organized the programme. He said, 6000 languages will be abolished from the world in next 20 years. There are 1652 languages in India. Out of them eighteen languages included in 8th Schedule.

Director of SCERT Ratish Majumder recalled the martyrs of Barak who sacrificed their life at Silchar Station on May 19 in 1961. He stressed on development and equal dignity to all languages. Secretary of ICA M.L. Dey also delivered speech on the occasion.
