IPFT gets 150 more members, claims their demand for separate state lawful

According to the party dignitaries the party is not pushing for any irrelevant or unconstitutional demand and the demand for the separate state is lawful. The party chief on Wednesday said that party would continue to strive for a separate state with areas of the tribal autonomous district council. According to the party it’s important to protect state’s minority tribals and preserve identify.

However, it is to be mentioned here that the ruling CPI(M) today rejected the demand for a separate state within Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) raised by Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) as "divisive and a conspiracy to divide the state.

The IPFT, a breakaway faction of the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) has been in constant demand to constitute a separate state in Tripura.
